Check out this mighty beast of a viola from Jason Viseltear. A millimeter by millimeter copy of an Andrea Amati. The next hotly-anticipated McLaughlin violin bow is coming along swiftly. In this picture Ryan uses a tension wire to test the bow’s camber, which is as important to playability as the selection of the wood or how the stick is graduated. Keep an eye out for the finished bow!

One of the best parts of my job is taking pictures of gorgeous instruments and bows. This elegant Ouchard was no exception! Émile-Auguste got his start in bow-making with his father Émile-François Ouchard in Mirecourt at the Cuniot-Hury shop. Interestingly, E.A. Ouchard moved to Chicago in 1948 to work for William Lewis & Son for three years!
