Takra, or buttermilk in Ayurveda, is used as a cooling summer therapy to ease the heat of pitta accumulation in the mind.
As the heat of summer surges on, many clients report that they are feeling agitated, have a shorter fuse or are feeling like their mind just won’t shut off.

n these instances, takradhara is exactly what the Ayurvedic Practitioner orders. Similar to shirodhara, where warm oil dances of the third eye chakra, takradhara uses buttermilk in place of oil.
It gently soothes the heat and agitation of sadhaka pitta and has my clients feeling the relief they need from the heat that summer brings. It clears the cobwebs helping you feel more alert and energized.
