Chanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa are coming around the corner. With this in mind, Emanuel Congregation is hosting the 7th Annual Emanuel Congregation Holiday Market. It's not just about coming out to buy "stuff", but the greater good of shopping from local vendors and supporting Fair Trade. Knowing your dollars are going to handmade goods that are made by the person standing right there doing bus

iness with you or that the items are fair trade.The highest form of tzedakah (acting with fairness and justice), according to the great 12th Century Jewish scholar Rabbi Moses ben Maimonides, is entering into a business partnership or giving a person a job so that he or she can become self-sufficient. This fun and family friendly events is packed with dynamic people selling everything you need, homemade and handmade. From one-of-a-kind jewelry, handbags, hand-crafted soaps, textiles, home accessories, photography, paper goods and Judaica to fair trade items and local foods, you're sure to find something for everyone. These local vendors are not likely to take credit cards, so bring cash and your checkbook! So please, tell all your family and friends, even strangers! Believe me they'll thank you. Spend an afternoon or morning getting gifts for others or yourself (Hey, you know you deserve it) that you won't find mass produced in a store.
