📍 Born Again Consignment Parlor: 703 S. Dearborn Street

Located in Chicago’s Printer’s Row neighborhood, Born Again Born Again Consignment Parlor is a resale and consignment shop where you can truly sit back, relax, and shop with a cocktail in hand. It’s BYOB, and they even have a cute little speakeasy on the third floor. The shop is filled with an incredible mix of secondhand and new items, including clothing, accessories, shoes, home goods, menswear, and so much more. They even have an entire sale room with items up to 75% off. They are also size inclusive and carry regular and plus sizes. You can bring up to 10 items to consign as well. And there’s more—you can rent out the space! Born Again is located inside a beautiful vintage building that was once a law office and still features gorgeous stained-glass windows. Whether you’re a Chicago local or just visiting downtown for the weekend, you definitely won’t want to miss this shop. There’s also not a lot of secondhand shopping options in downtown Chicago so this is a true gem.

Back in 2023 I found almost an identical set at the ReStore in Arlington Heights, IL and REGRETTABLY left them. I’ve gone back to this ReStore at least 100xs over the years hoping another set would pop up and today was my lucky day. If you need movers for your thrift finds in Chicago/Chicagoland I highly recommend Reinoso Bros—they are so fast and reasonably priced. These bbs came home with me. Daily trip to the new Savers doesn’t disappoint. Best day to go is Thursday or Friday and make sure to donate something first before you go inside and get a 20% off coupon before you shop. Mondays are half off but I’d rather just scoop the good stuff without the crowds. ✅

A vintage boutique that’s absolutely packed from floor to ceiling with treasures. If you love the thrill of the hunt, this is the kind of shop where you’ll spend way longer than you planned because there’s something interesting around every corner. They carry everything from home decor, artwork, and glassware to clothing, jewelry, and unique collectibles. There’s also a wide range of price points, with many great finds falling in the $15–25 range, making it easy to leave with something special without breaking the bank.

Vintage Design Mart Vin Des Mart

What stood out to me most about this mall was the outstanding curation and how many amazing treasures I saw. I’m a big thrifter and antique shopper, so I see A LOT of the same items when I’m out, but not at Vintage Design Mart.

This is truly a packed mall filled with some of the best of the best vintage Chicago has to offer. Guaranteed good-taste items here. 🤌

I absolutely love the bolt of fabric I got from Shytowngirl Vintage | Lisa Galvan and can’t wait to show you guys how I style it!

A lot of people don’t know VDM is here because it quietly opened a little over a year ago. Better get your butts over there before the word is out. 💖

📍 House of Hope Resale – Lake Zurich, IL

This place is actually two stores in the same strip mall. One is filled with clothing, handbags, accessories, home décor, and a boutique section, while the second is dedicated entirely to furniture.

The furniture side is where I always spend the most time. They consistently have higher-end and mostly vintage furniture, plus plenty of designer pieces. Prices can be a little higher than your average thrift store, but every purchase supports local families through their nonprofit, and most of the people working there are volunteers.

I’ve been here many times and always leave with a favorite find.
I particularly find the employees very nice too.

If something feels out of budget, don’t write it off. Most furniture is marked down weekly until it sells. New donations arrive daily, with Wednesdays being the day for fresh inventory and new markdowns. That’s why people line up before they open every Wednesday.

When I visited, both stores were absolutely packed with inventory. If you’re looking for quality vintage furniture, this is definitely worth the trip. Make sure you’re following their FB page for sneak peaks on the furniture and reminders when new inventory hits and markdowns occur.
