The Hanzlian Family has lived in Buffalo for nearly 100 years. George Hanzlian worked with his two brothers John and Andrew in a once famous Cheektowaga Meat Market (Johnny's Meats on Union Road). This is where he learned how to make sausage, and even after retiring he continued to make sausage for family and friends. In the year 1999 two of his sons, Dave (who worked as a butcher for 25 years) an

d George (who managed a couple of area restaurants), started their own company. They had the idea to make fresh homemade sausage (like their Father and Uncles did) and take it out to area markets for people to sample and buy. In 2002 with increased sales and market expansion a third brother, Tom, was brought in to help grow the family business. Years have passed since they began the company and now they make several different kinds of sausage. They began with Fresh Italian and Polish Sausage made from pork or chicken and also a pork Breakfast sausage and a Chicken Breakfast sausage. Now, there are several different varieties of sausages, including a stuffed hot banana pepper sausage, Italian pizza sausage, drunken pig beer bratwurst, general tso sausage to name just a few! Come try some for yourself- It’s the taste that keeps you coming back for more.

Hanzlian’s Sausage began in my grandparents’ garage on Courtland Avenue on Buffalo’s East Side in 1999. Since then, we’ve continued to adapt while staying true to what we do best- sausage.

As shopping habits continue to change and more customers look for convenience, we’ve made the decision to focus on where we see the greatest opportunity for growth. Going forward, our storefront will be dedicated exclusively to Hanzlian’s fresh and frozen sausage products. We’ll continue serving our customers through our storefront, retailers, farmers markets throughout Western New York, and by expanding into more local and regional retailers.

We’re also excited to open the next chapter for our facility by leasing space to other small businesses. Our vision is to create opportunities through shared space, farmers market collaborations, and retail partnerships that help local entrepreneurs grow while strengthening our surrounding communities.
