SAVE THE DATE: “Racket on the Rails” and “Racket at the Boneyard” are coming back this September (9/25 and 9/26)! If you are a record vendor, vintage clothing vendor, or a vendor of handcrafted goods and you’re interested in getting more details, send us a DM! We had about 40 vendors last year and ~1,000 in attendance, and we’re hoping to double those numbers this year! Registrations will open up sometime in July, but for now we’re compiling our list of vendors and partners, so hit us up or pass this along to any friends who you think might be interested!

There was a small ceremony that came before the first note. Taking home a new disc felt like adopting a tiny, deliberate world you would visit again and again.

Record shops had their own atmosphere, a blend of paper, vinyl, and conversation that made choosing music a slow, pleasing task. You would browse the stacks, listen to a snippet if you could, and bring something home that carried the memory of the place with it. Placing a record on the turntable was an invitation to sit still and actually listen.

I miss that unhurried ritual and the sense that music was an event rather than an instant. The songs still carry the same weight, but the way we meet them has changed. Sometimes I try to recreate that quiet anticipation at home.
