Let us formally introduce the sisters behind the name: Sofia + Olivia.

Sofia, “Soph”, who we actually nicknamed herself Ya-ya, is a quirky 4 year old. She was diagnosed with autism, ASD, in 2020. We’ve learned so much from her. She is smart, loves learning, loves so purely.

Olivia, “Liv”, whose nickname is “gorda” or “baby sister”, is the wild one. At 9 months, she’s already stubborn, strong willed, and independent.

🧩 Autism Collection 🧩

• A lengthy post, but a little background story on Soph + Liv.

✨ Sofia, “Soph”, was diagnosed with autism, or ASD, in 2020 at 2 years old. Many have ask how I took her diagnosis and to be quite frank, it was a relief. She was showing “textbook” signs and we wanted her to get the necessary therapies. Has it been easy? Absolutely not. Lots of tears of joy, defeat, exhaustion, yet so worth it seeing her progress thus far.

“Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States today” - autismspeaks.org

Our family has been blessed and lucky to have the provided resources that were/are needed for Sofia’s therapies. I know many are not. Beginning of every month, part of the proceeds will go towards a local - CHATTANOOGA - Autism Center to help a family pay for therapies.

Let’s introduce ourselves. We are Soph + Liv, formally known as Catalinas. Bringing the permanent jewelry experience to Chattanooga!

Catalinas launched in November 2020. Let me tell you that it has been a journey these last few years. Lots of trial and errors, but that’s how growth happens, right? Soph + Liv is a representation of that growth; literally and figuratively. We decided on a rebrand/rename due to our family expanding with our second daughter, Olivia. Hence the name Sofia & Olivia.
