For the first time in what feels like forever, I sat down and did some weaving.
This piece was inspired by a walk on East Beach on St. Simons Island, where the shoreline was covered with seaweed washed in by the tides. Curious, I looked it up and learned it was sargassum, a floating seaweed from the Sargasso Sea.
The Sargasso Sea is a fascinating place—a sea without shores, bounded only by ocean currents. Despite having no coastline, it supports an incredible diversity of life and serves as an important habitat for many marine species.
I was captivated by the idea of a place that is both constantly moving and peacefully calm. This weaving reflects the colors, textures, and sense of wonder that discovery sparked.
