Antique Spanish wooden image of the famous St. Francis of Asisi also known as San Francisco.
St. Francis (1181–1226) is best known as the patron saint of animals and ecology, recognized for his profound love of nature, dedication to poverty, and for founding the Franciscan orders. An Italian friar, he renounced his wealthy upbringing to serve the poor and preached peace and simplicity, leaving a lasting legacy in the Catholic Church.
The image is 20" high and is in great antique condition.
Note that the arm that is missing the hand has been glued on professionally.
