Are you team stripes or team gingham???

These are new in from Figo fabrics, and y’all have been loving them! We made sure to add some precuts to our fat quarter/half yard wall, and there’s plenty of yardage to complement projects like a baby quilt or a cute top.

Here’re this week’s Knit Knacks: Børstet Alpakka edition ✨🧶

Again, I state, this yarn is a statement piece yarn. We’re using it for texture. We’re using it for fun. We’re gonna use the project we make out of it when we want to remind ourselves we’re creative, cute, and cool. A lot of the projects we chose remind me (Ashia) of a cartoon where the characters have a staple outfit for every episode. It’s a look that’s natural yet still iconic. Børstet is like that in that it doesn’t have to try too hard … it’s just good enough.

Alright going clockwise around the collage -

• Petite Knit Olga sweater. Yeah, you could use something like a Rios for a simple stripe but no! Have some fun with this fuzzy yarn (which according to feedback doesn’t shed too bad!)

•Clematis Sweater Chunky by Emma Maier. What a great use for buttons. What a great opportunity to let the yarn shine.

•I know my customers. I know several of you would scoff at me for recommending an Alpaca based dress. I am STANDING on it Stashies. This is Shaun by Isabell Kraemer, which is originally listed as a sweater, (go ahead, take the easy way out).

•the Berlin Scarf by Susanne Müller. This is for my gworls who dont feel like committing to a project but want something cute. A statement piece scarf, and you can do some funky color combos. Also, check out the skinny versions of the scarf. Super cute.

•Crazy Daisy Cardigan by Bea Fischer-Harrison. This is for my whimsical-core, fairy-core, always reaching a Romantasy novel-core, or elementary school teacher core girls. It’s giving main, gentle, character. Super fun.

•Wave Sweater by Spektakelstrik and Ridge Sweater Junior by Sandnes Garn. These look great for my Stashies that want to venture into colorwork and end a project with a feeling fulfilled.

•Cuddle Vest by Maryna Demydas. Are vests cute on yall? You get bonus points for feedback if the answer is yes and you struggle to find your bra size in store.

•Crocheted Frog by Claire Garland. Cause sometimes, you don’t want a big project… but you do want a friend for your desk.

Until next week.

FULL NEEDLEWORK RESTOCK,

Sashiko, Cross-Stitch, and Embroidery have been restocked. These handcrafts are perfect for plane rides, slow mornings, or any time you need a break that doesn’t involve your phone.

We’ve also restocked thimbles, and made sure to grab em in large sizes too ‘cause we know your fingers are getting swollen in this heat 😉😂

Owning your dream wardrobe is easy when you remember you can craft it yourself.

You can stick to the colors and prints that compliment you, while also using fun, thick textures, like Børstet Alpakka by sandnesgarn, to highlight your choices.

Børstet Alpakka is a bulky weight, 90% alpaca, 10% nylon yarn, offering a soft, gentle halo. It works up quickly at its weight, so your project with it shouldn’t take too long depending on the difficulty.

Stay tuned for project recommendations.

Available in store and online now.

Alicia's Knit Knacks!

Happy HOT days of summer, Stashies! We've gotten some lovely new yarns in and I'm so excited to talk about them! This week we're focusing on Sandnes Garn's Peer Gynt It's DK weight, 100% wool, and 50 grams of fun. Here are my choices for it:

• Moby Slipover pattern by PetiteKnit
Getting ready for the cooler days here! Who doesn't love a slipover that can double as a vest? Just look at those cables! The beauty of this yarn is that showcases the cables and makes them pop with a crispness.

• Sweet Shop Blanket pattern by Laura Penrose
If you are into knitting blankets, think about this one

• Soldotna Crop pattern by Caitlin Hunter
A special mention!

Hmmmmm......which one will be on my needles ASAP? Stop by the store and see!

Haven’t sewn in years? Here are a few updates:

We don’t solely depend on Simplicity, Mcalls, and Butterick for our sewing patterns anymore.

There are thousands of pattern designers online, offering digital files for sewing patterns. Those patterns can come in several formats:

-pdf (pros: you can print at home. Cons: usually 20+ pages that you must tape together before cutting)
-A4 (similar to pdf, but tailored to printers outside of the US)
-A0/Copyshop‼️ (pros: prints your pattern on printer paper but generally avoids the taping process, cons: can add another $10+ dollars onto your sewing project)

Stash Charlotte is happy to provide A0/Copyshop printing so that our seamstresses near and far (we ship!) can feel at ease when they’re ready to sew.

So don’t lament, people are still sewing, it just looks different now. Whenever you’re ready to start sewing, we’re here!
