I'm sure this won't stop folks that still fall for the "business interests in the 80's started calling it uptown", but archives don't lie! Plus my grandparents who grew up near what is now Park Road Shopping Center said everyone called it "uptown" because back then when they walked or biked the elevation walking "up" was more evident. Calling our center of town "uptown" has precedent dating back to the late 1800's
