This Sunday, join us for the first installment of Sankofa Crafts. We are honoring ourselves, others, and mothers with “Aprons on Inheritance.”

Using reclaimed fabric from old garments, tablecloths, and flour sacks, participants create aprons inspired by the legacy of Black domestic workers, cooks, and artisans. The session includes conversation about kitchens as sites of survival, skill, and authorship.

Materials, food, community all included. See you folks soon! Link in bio 🎟️

TONIGHT - MeckRoots: The Recipe as Archive

The Ebony Cookbook: Date with a Dish was advertised and sold in Ebony. Authored by Freda De Knight (also spelled DeKnight), the first food editor for Ebony, and author of the food column “A Date with a Dish,” which premiered in Ebony in 1946. DeKnight’s food column included recipes, cooking tips, and cultural reflections from chefs across the Diaspora. The text serves as a cultural guide and recipe archive.

New year, new things.

We are delighted to bring our newest offering, Sankofa Crafts, to the world. It’s time to get in the kitchen by centering kitchens, textiles, upcycling, and Black craft traditions.

Our monthly offerings, lead by , encourage us to draw upon memories of kitchen textiles, go back and fetch knowledge of Afro-Diaspora textiles traditions, engage in sustainable craft practices, and learn from each other.
