Tried watching the Kevin Hart roast and honestly had to turn it off after about 20 minutes. Just wasn’t for me. Crude doesn’t automatically equal funny.

On the flip side, we stumbled across Shayne Smith on Angel Studios and finally found a comedian that actually made us laugh without all the gross shock humor. Clean stand-up that’s genuinely funny is getting harder to find these days.

Anybody else have favorite clean comedians or shows worth checking out?

NEXT MONTH’S DONATION BOX RECIPIENT ANNOUNCEMENT

For next month’s community donation box at Charleston Discount Grocery, we are proud to announce that we will be collecting to help support the Coles County Animal Shelter.

The Coles County Animal Shelter serves animals throughout Coles County by helping house, care for, and find homes for dogs and cats in need. They also support adoption efforts, spay/neuter programs, and important TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) initiatives to help reduce feral cat overpopulation in our area.

Every dollar placed into the donation box helps provide care, comfort, food, supplies, and medical support for animals waiting for their forever homes right here in our community.

In addition to monetary donations, we are also planning to collect pet-related supplies including:

• Dry & wet dog food
• Dry & wet cat food
• Cat litter
• Treats
• Toys
• Blankets & towels
• Cleaning supplies

And before we move into next month’s fundraiser, there is STILL time to donate to this month’s donation box benefiting the Charleston Area Food Pantry.

Our last count already had the donation box at over $340 raised!

We want to again thank Loxa Presbyterian Church for their incredibly generous $143 donation earlier this month to help kick things off. We also want to thank La Luna Mexican Restaurant Food Truck and Catering for donating a portion of their sales from our recent After Hours vendor event back into the donation box as well.

Because of community support like this, every dollar donated can stretch even further through the food pantry’s purchasing power and continue helping local families facing food insecurity.

And here’s something really important to remember…

As of today, we are proudly partnered with local businesses who believe in giving back and strengthening our community. A huge thank you to:

Had a great time seeing so many people and vendors out and about this morning at the Charleston Farmers Market On The Square!

Here are just a few of the goodies we picked up today:

• Micro Market-New Leaf Microgreens– Sourdough Bread
We managed to grab the LAST loaf, and wow…absolutely amazing bread!

• Cookies by Mama Fish – Snickerdoodle Cookies
One of my all-time favorite cookies, and these definitely did not disappoint.

• Scones & Things – Pecan Pie Mini Muffins
These were incredible and disappeared fast around here!

And honestly…the BEST and cutest part of the morning had to be the little baby piglets. Oh my gosh…so stinking cute. I was already told “no” by my wife when I joked about bringing piglets home…haha.

If you missed the market today, be sure to check it out next Saturday! There are so many great local vendors, homemade goodies, fresh items, crafts, baked goods, plants, and unique finds.
