Trying something new! We are looking for specialist volunteers!! Specialist volunteer positions to help fill the gaps that impact animal care at our shelter. We rely heavily on volunteers to ensure the care of our animals. Can you help?

Specialist: 𝗞𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗟𝗦
• Seeking two volunteers to visit the shelter consistently for a minimum of 2 hours each session.
• Kitten Angels assist in monitoring and caring for our youngest shelter residents to ensure they thrive.
• Volunteers take and send photographs of kittens ready for fostering to our coordinator for promotion on social media.
• This seasonal opportunity concludes at the end of kitten season, roughly by late August.

Specialist: 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣
• Seeking two volunteers for 2 to 3 hours, once or twice each week.
• Responsibilities: Maintain the surgery room and sterilize medical instruments. Prepare medication and adoption packets for pets scheduled for weekly operations.
• Requirements: While prior experience is beneficial, it is not required. Candidates must possess strong attention to detail and a commitment to thorough cleaning.

Specialist: 𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧
• Seeking a dedicated volunteer to assist new adopters as they transition pets into their homes. This role focuses on providing essential support and resources to ensure successful, lifelong adoptions.
• Duties include communicating with adopters via email and phone to address post-adoption concerns.
• Coordinate post-adoption medical needs with Shelter Manager
• Work directly with our non-profit partner, FoCCAS (Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter), to request and coordinate financial support for necessary medical procedures.
• Track and follow up on legal requirements, including spay/neuter compliance waivers and state-mandated rabies vaccination proof.
• Excellent communication skills, empathy, and meticulous organizational abilities are essential.
• This position can be performed remotely.

Specialist: 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗣𝗦
• Seeking dog enthusiasts available once or twice weekly for sessions lasting 2 to 3 hours.
• Key duties involve transporting dogs between their kennels and the play areas as instructed.
• Provide supervision for dogs within the play yard.
• Candidates should be able to finish our online training modules for the play group system.
• While not mandatory, having experience with large breeds exceeding 50 lbs is advantageous.

Specialist: 𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦
• Seeking one volunteer to manage and participate in our adoption outreach events.
• Responsibilities include:
◦ Organizing event schedules at various offsite venues.
◦ Enlisting volunteer support and supervising event activities.
◦ Aiding in the selection of pets for each event and handling all necessary preparations.

Specialist: 𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡/𝗙𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥
• Provides a warm welcome to prospective adopters and foster caregivers at the shelter
• Handles the processing of all foster and adoption paperwork
• Records foster and adoption details within the shelter's management software
• Maintains clear communication with the staff regarding placement updates
• Opportunities available: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Sunday, especially weekends

Specialist: 𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗨𝗜𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧
• Identifies and secures opportunities for volunteer outreach at local community events and festivals.
• Develops engaging recruitment content to be featured across our various social media platforms.
• Collaborates directly with the team to showcase and celebrate ongoing volunteer contributions.
• Supports the planning and ex*****on of initiatives designed for volunteer appreciation.

🐾💗 Madison — The Last Little Sister Still Waiting for Forever 💗🐾

Sweet little Madison is the only one left of her 5 assumed siblings who came to us after they suddenly popped out from under a shed on their finder’s property! With no idea where they came from or how long they had been there, their finder brought all the puppies to us in hopes of reuniting them with an owner.
Unfortunately, none were microchipped, none had ID tags, and no family ever came forward.

And now, all but Madison have found their forever homes! 🐶❤️

Madison is estimated to be around 5 months old and will likely grow to be on the larger side once fully grown. She is sweet, playful, curious, and full of that precious puppy innocence. She wants nothing more than a family who will love and care for her from puppy to senior. ✨🐾

We invite you to come meet this adorable girl in person and see if you’re meant to be together forever! She got along wonderfully with her siblings, and as always, we recommend meet‑and‑greets with other dogs and with children to ensure a great match. 🤝🐕‍🦺👧👦

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up‑to‑date on age‑appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Adopters should establish veterinary care after adoption to maintain their new pet’s health. 🩺❤️
