In April 2020, with a cooler full of flowers and a newly-emptied events calendar (thanks Covid), I scoured the internet for ideas on where we might redirect an enormous amount of spring blooms. Many farms and florists were working on their own pivots, but I happened to call . Lisa Bowen answered, and when I asked if they might consider carrying some of our market bouquets, she simply said, "I think people would really like that!" And you did. Thousands upon thousands of bouquets worth over six years.

Delivering twice weekly to has been an absolute delight in my life, and so it's gratitude and a touch of sadness that I'm passing the torch to a couple of dear friends. I have a big life transition coming up, and that's necessitated a few shifts to F&F. But my friends at Burbage's have gotten quite attached to their bouquets, so I'm THRILLED to introduce you to Dan & Amy of and Amy of . Dan & Amy grow a huge variety of flowers over on Johns Island, while Amy and her partner offer event rentals (including a bloom bar!) from Summerville. They are SO excited to take over the bouquets for , and I'M excited for a move I've been working on for YEARS.

No worries, Charleston--I'm not leaving. Just growing! MUCH love to the crew at Burbage's for your years of love and support. Life is so much better as part of a thriving community, and I've been proud to call myself part of yours.

A special post to my Facebook followers….I don’t think I realized how little of my social media presence trickles over to this platform. That’s likely to do with how much I dislike what the entire platform has become compared to what we started with, but I digress. Rather, there are other platforms where I spend my time. Entirely too. much. time.

I did want to pop on to say I’ve had to close orders early for Mother’s Day to accommodate a wedding weekend, but there will be plenty of bouquets available at Burbages Grocery. If you miss out on that, check in with my friends at The Urb Farm on John’s Island. I’ll have plenty of their blooms on display this weekend!

I used to post on social media regularly—at least several times a week. More than that, I made it a sort of hobby. A hyperfixation, one might say. I am very all or nothing because my idea of perfection means giving 128%, so when I clearly needed to start shedding some of my responsibilities so I could deal with stuff and things, social media was one of the first things to go and one of the things I felt most guilty about. I’m not an influencer on any level, but once you’ve allowed that level of access into your life, it can be hard to shift gears. Two years later, here I am. Shifting gears.

These photos are from a wedding I designed back in November. I’ve shared a proper wedding vendor’s portfolio post over on (Instagram). If design and flowers are your thing, give it a follow for the flower part of my life (and that’s a good chunk of my life!).

I loved selecting the flowers for this event. Whites, blues, and greens are a common palette, as you might imagine in a seaside city, so it can be really challenging to make them distinctive and unique to that couple and the day. 128%.

will transition to something a little more like this and less like that. The content here will be deeper and more personal than what you may be accustomed to from me. That’s not because I wasn’t giving you an honest representation of myself but because what I’m giving you here now is deeper and more personal than anything I could have offered you then.

One of the major reasons my posts slowed to almost nothing was that I developed the inability to continue speaking about myself and my business as if nothing else was happening in the world. Captions without an acknowledgment that the world around us seems to be in utter chaos feel like nails on a chalkboard now, and I decided I wasn’t going to sit idly by and never acknowledge that everything feels SO heavy at this moment. It is a lot to try to carry, so here is what I hope you will do: Don’t.

Don’t try to carry the weight of the world. Imagine yourself in the eye of the hurricane. Let the chaos surround you, but do not let it overwhelm you. You are protected and loved, and nothing can change that.

This weekend, I beg you to spend time by yourself. Lock yourself in a bathroom or closet if need be, but take some time on your own. Listen to your own inner voice. What is it telling you? Write it down.

Listen to calming music. Drink your favorite tea. Enjoy the gorgeous weather. Love on your families. Bake bread. Call a friend.

The world will keep spinning. The chaos will keep swirling. Nothing is going to change that for the immediate future, but it is not permanent.

The journey to get OUT of the eye of the storm will be brutal, but we WILL get out. TOGETHER.

Like many farms, my first sales were market bouquets, and they’ve remained a staple even 10 years later. (Yikes!). From bouquet subscriptions to twice-weekly drops at to the daily orders that trickle in throughout the week, I’m now cranking out over 2000 bouquets a year. You’d think I would get tired of it, but I’ve found them to be fun opportunities to play with color, and since they’re often purchased as gifts, seeing the face of a delighted recipient never gets old.

The number one question I get from people who have known me for years? “What have you been up to?” It’s a fair question....

The number one question I get from people who have known me for years? “What have you been up to?” It’s a fair question. I went from posting alllll the time about all the things to virtual crickets. What have I been up to? Moving (twice!). Designing (give me allll the flowers please). Mom-ing (kiddo is now 9!). So many things, and yet a MUCH slower pace. It’s changed me profoundly, and I think I’m ready to talk about that more publicly. Not sharing all the tea as much as much as talking about what I’ve experienced and learned along the way, in the event it may resonate with some of you.
Many of us are in a season of change, and I’ve come through this most recent change with a level of joy I never thought possible. Change can bring challenges and fear, but it can also bring growth and liberation. I try to aim for the latter, and in a season where everything feels in flux, I hope I can share some of what I’ve learned about how to remain anchored when it feels like you may drown at any minute.
