A school within UNC Chapel Hill reached out looking for something a little different for their end-of-year staff celebration.

Generic would not do. It had to be something that felt like it was actually made for them and that would make them smile.

So we started with their phrase, "You're sup-HERB!", and built everything around it. Basil seed packets wrapped in small terra cotta pots. Custom tags with a ram standing in an herb garden (with the Old Well, naturally). Three recipe cards featuring summer basil recipes, illustrated with the same image.

The order wasn't large. But that didn't change how we approached it.

Every gift we make gets the same creative attention, because the people receiving them deserve to feel like someone thought about them specifically. That's true whether it's a group of smaller favors or five hundred boxes.

I say it all the time, but our customers are genuinely some of the most thoughtful people. This project is one of my favorite examples of why.

A student wanted to say thank you to the teachers who helped him get to the next chapter of his life. His mom called and we talked through what would feel worthy of that, high quality items they would actually use, NC-made treats, and our Artisan Story Sheet to connect the recipients to the state where he is headed this fall.

Ten boxes later, one of the teachers sent back a note that said the gift made his efforts as a teacher feel truly appreciated.
