My heart belongs to vintage and antiques. My home is filled with pieces that have lived whole lives before finding their way to me—so no one was more surprised than I was when this modern Crate & Barrel piece snuck into my living room.

I bought it with every intention of rehoming it, but somewhere along the way, it completely won me over. It turns out a clean, contemporary line can sit right alongside aged patina and fit the mood perfectly.

The Garage Sale Surprise!

I spotted this heavy, brilliantly cut crystal bowl at a garage sale and immediately assumed it was a classic piece of Steuben glass. The clarity and weight felt right, so into my bag it went!

Once I got home and flipped it over, I got a real surprise. Scratched cleanly into the base was a different name entirely: Strobach.

That signature sent me down a deep dive into Kurt Strobach, a master glass artist known for incredible mid-century cut crystal, geometric faceting, and light-refracting designs.

It wasn't the Steuben I expected, but discovering a rare piece of design history made the hunt even sweeter. I love to keep learning.
