Mother Junkers

Mother Junkers "Making the world beautiful one piece at a time." Mother Junkers brings new life to furniture pieces No, I am not talking about the song by Hank Williams Jr.

My mom and I are so excited about continuing our “Family Tradition”. I know all my friends and family know most verses of this song and they certainly know how to have a good time as the song mentions. I am referring to our family tradition of woman entrepreneurs and specifically our history restoring and selling furniture. It all started when Granny (great-great grandmother), Alice Pierson, conve

rted her old pool hall into a used furniture store. Upon her passing my Great Grandmother, N***y or as she was called by others Virginia “Ginny”Clough, and my grandmother Jackie Lewis, took over the business. They enjoyed going to the weekly Crumpton Auctions coming home with furniture and various odds and ends even including some live chickens. From a young age, my mother, Norma Coursey, vividly remembers the furniture store as well as the country store that my Great Grandmother owned. Mom and I have both had the entrepreneurial “bug” each owning other business ventures in the past. Over the last several years we have had this tug; something in our hearts and in our blood which was the need to work on furniture. With the new trends of “repurposing” and “salvage” as well as various new mediums including Chalk paint, milk paint and distressing we have found our Niche of bringing new life to old furniture pieces with “good bones” that just needs some TLC. We are just getting started and hope to make the “Mother Junkers” that have gone before us proud. We plan to start out with flea markets, Facebook marketing and move into pop-up events throughout the Eastern Shore. So stay tuned to Mother Junkers as we hope to continue our family legacy.
