Big news for public safety in the Cedar Rapids metro area: U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson announced the City's request for upgraded bomb-disposal equipment for the Cedar Rapids-Metro Hazardous Devices Unit has advanced to the next phase of federal funding.
This funding would help replace aging bomb-disposal robots and a protective bomb suit, keeping our bomb squad safe while they tackle dangerous situations. These robots and suits allow our team to investigate and handle explosives safely, protecting both the public and our first responders.
The project is not fully funded yet — it still needs Congressional approval — but today's news is another step forward in keeping our community safe and ready for anything!
