Unfortunately, my husband and I will not be reopening Capt. Sam's Seafood this summer. Thank you for your patronage and hope you have a wonderful summer!

NEED YOUR SUPPORT FOR MFC APPOINTMENT!

LETTERS NEEDED FOR DR. MARTIN POSEY FOR THE SCIENCE SEAT!

CALL TO ACTION!
There are 3 seats up for appointment on the Marine Fisheries Commission. We were hoping that the appointments would be made prior to this week's MFC meeting in Kitty Hawk, but that will not happen because one or two are still up in the air. One of those is for the Science seat. NCFA has been advocating for Dr. Martin Posey who is well qualified and would be a breath of fresh and OBJECTIVE air on the MFC!

We need you to send a message to the two folks below regarding the appointment to the Science seat on the Marine Fisheries Commission. We strongly recommended Dr. Martin Posey of UNC Wilmington and he is a front runner but the "other side" is giving significant pushback. The Governor's office has told us they need to get some support for Dr. Posey other than just NCFA, so please take the time to send a note to the two folks below and support Dr. Marin Posey for the science seat on the Marine Fisheries Commission.

Stephen Bryant is a Policy Advisor to Governor Cooper and heads up the Boards & Commissions office. Katie Hendrickson works in the Boards & Commissions office.

BACKGROUND ON DR. MARTIN POSEY:
NCFA has been advocating for Dr. Posey in the science seat but they need to hear from YOU.
It's not really necessary to go into great detail as the Governor's office has been given that information already. The most important thing is just to let the Governor know that Dr. Posey has YOUR support!
Here is some brief background material:
Dr. Posey has conducted much research on coastal species and issues in North Carolina for over 30 years. He has conducted research on topics to help conservation and restoration efforts in several of our important fisheries. He has served as an advisor to the MFC for many years and is quite familiar with management and conservation issues facing NC. He is a professor at one of our state-supported universities. He is objective and conducts well-reviewed scientific research.
