Sometime in the next few weeks Karen and I will be making a decision on when we feel it’s safe and appropriate to return to quilting. Once we have a date set we’ll call those already on our list and then open back up for anyone else to drop off quilts. We will be adapting our practices to include working earlier and likely fewer hours to avoid social contact as much as possible, and new quilt drop-off and pick up procedures. Also we would recommend not opening your quilt for a few days once you get it home. We are both extremely diligent in social distancing, handwashing, mask wearing, etc., but the risk of asymptomatic spread is always a concern.
Please know we’re extremely thankful for your patience and continued support as we all work through new ways of doing business for the foreseeable future. Below is the instructions we’re starting with - they may change as we go, but we’ll do our best to accommodate everyone.
HOW TO DROP OFF YOUR QUILT:
According to CDC guidelines we’ve learned that the Covid19 virus can live on fabric surfaces for 48-72 hours, and while the risk of infection from touching a quilt is low, the risk greatly increases when the surface is agitated and the virus particles are aerosolized. Therefore, with an abundance of caution, once we have your quilt in our possession we will leave it undisturbed for at least a full week. Because we’re not going to be looking at your quilt when it’s dropped off we’re asking for your trust (and we appreciate what a big ask this is) in deciding how to quilt your quilt top. All of this, and our new procedure listed below, is our effort to mitigate the possibility of infection anywhere along the line to ensure we ALL stay healthy until a vaccine is widely available.
1) Please use the provided hand sanitizer before proceeding.
2) If you need a pen, please take from the “disinfected” pen holder.
3) Fill out the QLC worksheet as usual.
4) Place your quilt(s) in one of the bags we’ve provided. If it’s already in a bag please place the entire bag in one we’ve provided to avoid agitating the quilt at all.
5) Tape your worksheet to the outside of the bag.
6) Slide your quilt under the table/plexiglass barrier.
7) Place used pens in the holder labeled as such.
8)Once your quilt is completed we will call as usual and inform you of the amount due at that time. We will do our best to arrange a scheduled pick up time so we can return your finished quilt to you via curbside pick up. We’ll ask that you have your check or cash (exact amount due please) in hand in order to minimize contact as much as possible. If we’re not able to arrange a curbside pickup, please still have exact payment when you come in to pick up your quilt.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your continued patience and support while we all learn to navigate this “new normal”!!!
Stay safe and healthy!!!
