On Monday evening, Officers responded to a report of two subjects exiting a vehicle and walking in a residential neighborhood while holding a rifle. Responding officers found the two subjects with an AK-47 style rifle. After the subjects were detained, it was determined two juveniles were in possession of an air soft gun with the orange safety markings painted over.

Thankfully this incident ended safely for everyone! Parents must ensure their children are using imitation fi****ms responsibly and that the required safety markings are visible.

CA Penal Code 20150(a) makes it a misdemeanor for anyone to remove the required safety markings from an imitation firearm.

CA Penal Code 20170(a) states no person may openly display or expose any imitation firearm in a public place.
