There is something wonderfully comforting about a tea towel. It may seem like a simple piece of fabric, but it quietly becomes one of the hardest-working and most cherished items in the kitchen. These beautifully printed banadanas are so creative. We have these designs from Handker, offering a good selection. But where did the Bandana originate?

From ancient South Asian roots to an early American rebrand, we see them in back pockets, around foreheads, on necks and for foraging. The bandana is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing to have entered the wardrobe of modern Western civilization.

There are an infinite number of ways to use that light square of roughly 20 by 20-inch cloth, but where did the bandana as we know it today, originate? It dates back to the 1700s in South Asia. Originating from the Hindi word Bandhna, meaning "to tie". Later Imported from India in the 18th century. Today they are used by many cultures in all walks of life.
