I found a blog post that might interest those of you whose curiosity is piqued by this notion of our history having been preserved by an epic, centuries-long round of Telephone.

I found this blog post that summarizes the ways in which the African cultures were preserved. Many of the hymns in all churches originated there. Much of the music claimed by numerous other cultures started there. Much of the folklore, urban legends, and traditions of the world crossed from one culture to another, was edited, borrowed, even stolen from another....

1. My great uncle, Dave Houck, who received the in WWII. We have recordings of his story of service in his own voice, telling of the where he lost his leg. He went on to serve his rural community as a long-time member of the local school board where he fought ardently for public education.
2. A gentleman from Carlisle who proudly donned his uniform and held the US Flag during a a few years ago. He has passed since then, and sadly, I never learned his story.
