first started making the Coco Nut & Bamboo Pipes when he was living in Honduras, on the Island of Roatan. Twenty (20) years later with the help of his daughter & grandchildren they continue to improve on the quality of his original Pipe. The coconut, named Attalea Cohune or (Corozo), has quite a history. The Mayans made the Attalea Cohune Trees a protected species. In ceremonial displays, they cut

the top off of the nut and placed them around the mountain sides. They lit them and the meat inside burnt as a candle. In the morning they found charred coco bowls…and they discovered the bowl’s ability to withstand flame, making the coconut a perfect smoking bowl. The palm trees take about 10 to 12 years to produce these hard seeds. In the early 1900's they were called American Oil Palm Seeds. Now they are mostly used for carving and smoking.

Dear Friends of Kona Pipes,

It is with great sorrow that I write that my Dad, Anthony, the Owner of Kona Pipes passed on January 11, 2020.

My dad died peacefully in his sleep with his heart full of love for this joyous festival community.

The world was made all the kinder and more beautiful with my dad in it. He is so deeply missed.

Please know that I am doing my very best to fill already placed orders with the limited supply of completed pipes available. I apologize in advance for any frustration as I try to juggle this difficult situation. My Dad always strived to put his very best of love and craftsmanship into every piece he made. Once his supply for pre existing orders is shipped out, the business will close. To be clear, as of 01-11-2020 no business transactions from my Dad should have taken place. Including accepting funds for new orders.

Would you please help by sharing this post so it reaches everyone who needs to see it.

Also, if you are so inclined, I’d love if you could share any stories of good times with my Dad.
