Happy Snare Drum Saturday! Today we have an absolute classic from our museum collection, the Ludwig Jazz Festival finished in Oyster Black Pearl. To some, this drum is instantly recognizable thanks to a bloke named Ringo. The shell is made from 3-ply mahogany and is is finished on the inside with Ludwig’s exclusive Resa-Cote for greater resonance. It also features 8 self-aligning tension casings as well as triple-flanged hoops.

Happy Snare Drum Saturday! This week we are featuring a bit of local history. We have a 1930’s marching parade drum made by Slingerland, and used by Cape Girardeau’s own Golden Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. From the end of the 1920s until they disbanded in the mid 1950s, the golden troopers were among the nations top drum and bugle corps. They won the Missouri American Legion drum and bugle Corps championship eight times and in 1950, finished fifth in the national contest held in Los Angeles. We have this parade drum, as well as two bass drums on display as part of our Museum Collection.

Happy Snare Drum Saturday! Today’s snare is from our Museum Collection and needs little introduction. The Ludwig De Luxe model, now known as the Black Beauty has been coveted by drummers for over a century not only for its looks, but distinct sound. With its hand engravings and the special Ludwig De Luxe finish that closely represents gold. This is definitely a gem of the Museum Collection!
