My husband got a firsthand lesson in just how strong my wallpaper game is.
My mom had me helping wallpaper apartments when I was 9 years old, so apparently all that child labor finally paid off. 😂
Glad to know I still got it.

Does anyone need moving boxes? I have like 16 pretty good sized boxes to get rid of.

One of my favorite things about this bookstore journey is all the people who have shown up to help.
Some help with lights.
Some paint.
And some bring the energy of a Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Tube Man.
Every contribution counts. ❤️

Someone super cool should come be my across the street neighbor!
One of the things I love about downtown is how each business adds its own personality to the block.
I was really sad to see Minglewood close, and I'd love to see this space filled again by something that brings people downtown and helps make our little corner of Cape even more special.
Who would you love to see move in across from For the Plot? 👇

Last night I got to attend an author Q&A/signing with Elsie Silver AND Lena Hendrix in St. Louis and it just made me even more excited for what For the Plot can become someday.
Seeing readers line up to meet an author they love, hearing everyone laugh together over fiction, watching people leave with signed books and huge smiles, that’s exactly the kind of experience I want to create here in Downtown Cape.
Right now I’m still the small fish building shelves, unpacking inventory, and figuring it all out as I go. But one day? I would LOVE to host author events and signings of our own.
Getting to build a romance bookstore in a community full of readers who are just as passionate about books as I am already feels pretty magical.

This sticker really captured the current For the Plot business model. 💀📚

This morning: “Wow, the store finally looks so clean and put together.” ✨

Five minutes later: TONS OF INVENTORY ARRIVES. 📦😂

Turns out opening the bookstore means living in a constant cycle of: clean → chaos → organize → more boxes → emotional support coffee → repeat Very similar to a house with children.

But honestly? Every box has me feeling like a kid on Christmas.

For the Plot is slowly starting to look like a real bookstore and that feels insane.

Tiny bookstore updates lately that are making me ridiculously happy:

• shelves are up
• merch is arriving
• paint finally done (I think)
• realizing this place actually feels like For the Plot now 🥹

I’m so excited for you guys to see it ❤️

I saw a gorgeous antique bar on TikTok and immediately fell in love with it… until I saw the $14,000 price tag 😬

So I asked my husband very sweetly,
“Do you think you could maybe possibly build something like this for my store?” 🥹

And somehow he took the vision in my head and made it even better.

The stained glass. The details. The lighting. The craftsmanship. Every single part of this was built by him (I did paint!) for For the Plot and I honestly can’t stop staring at it.

He’s insanely talented, ridiculously patient with my million ideas, and truly my biggest supporter through all of this. ❤️

Now excuse me while I spend the rest of my life telling customers,
“Yeah, my husband built this!”
