I never do this but this is one of those things that's just bothers me on principle and I have gone above and beyond dealing with company support to remedy this.
So my Dad recently passed away and call after call with lead me to believe after returning my father's devices, one of which he was recently talked into whole he was very sick but managed to go to their store without me, as only $3 a month ( a tablet), we would be all good. I return his new iphone and tablet as requested. I then get a bill for $923. I thought this must be a mistake so I call billing support and tell them both devices have been returned and gave them the tracking for both which they saw and could confirm was the case. They said sorry about that and sorry for your loss. I will put in an escalation ticket and this will be removed within 30 days.
Of course that wasn't the end of it, after two months I get a other bill for the same and call back to billing. They said sorry for your loss but you need to bring a copy of your father's death certificate to our store so they can submit a copy of it. I did that, everyone I dealt with seemed very apologetic and surprised I had to even do this as they normally take your word for it and leave it at that I was told. It must have been the dollar amount this time.
I did that and until today I thought it was taken care of but yet again corporations wanting money at someone's expense, exceeds my expectations and I get a letter that you see here which is a collection agency Verizon decided to send my father's bill to. I get my dad got new devices and most definitely signed some sort of contract but this seems ridiculous and unreasonable to me. I know I will never use Verizon again and I will not be paying a collection agency anything unless I get my father's devices back.
Anyone else have similar horror stories of corporate greed? Not looking forward to your response but thanks for reading.
