We're glad to be back! Join the downtown Cambridge City shops in reopening after the area's recent devastating flooding.

High Hats Antique Mall is returning to our usual business hours as of Saturday, August 22.

Hours:
Wednesday-Saturday 10AM-5PM
Sunday 1PM-5PM
Closed Monday/Tuesday

Based on the flood water marks on the furnaces and walls, we calculated about 75,000 gallons of water collected in the High Hats basement during the Cambridge City flooding. As we expected, the furnaces and water heaters are a total loss. The AC unit was also submerged in water and was damaged by flowing debris—please dress comfortably for the weather until we get replacements. Our hearts ache for the residents and businesses who have suffered massive and total losses.

Out of respect and consideration to emergency services, utility companies, clean-up crews, and the privacy of those suffering great loss, High Hats (and neighboring businesses) decided it would be best to close our stores until it was deemed safe and appropriate to reopen. Not only did we need to pump water from our businesses and clean up the mud, but we felt we did not want to encourage sight-seers and unnecessary traffic into Cambridge City during a potentially unsafe and unsettled time. We look forward to welcoming you back to High Hats this weekend.

Thanks to all of you for your understanding, patience, and for your heartfelt texts, emails, and messages of encouragement during this disaster. Continue to pray for the damaged businesses and for the residents who have suffered the loss of home and belongings.

If you wish to contribute any items which might be beneficial to flood victims and damaged businesses, you may contact the Cambridge City Christian Church. They are the headquarters and main coordinators for the town’s disaster relief program and are offering meals, services, and supplies to anyone associated or affected by the flooding.

On behalf of the Cambridge City Area Chamber of Commerce, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Canal Days event.

We know how much Canal Days means to our community. It is a time when friends, families, businesses, and visitors come together to celebrate the heart and history of Cambridge City. Because of that, we do not make this decision lightly, and we sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to this year’s event.

We have already contacted those vendors we had recorded for this year. We haven't had a chance to check our mailbox this week. We will reach out to those who have mailed theirs in as soon as we receive them.

However, in the wake of the catastrophic flooding that has devastated parts of our community, our focus must now turn to what matters most, our people, our homes, our businesses, and the difficult work of cleaning up and rebuilding.

At this time, our downtown and many areas of our community need our attention, support, and resources. We believe the best way we can honor Cambridge City right now is by coming together, helping our neighbors, supporting our local businesses, and focusing on the recovery ahead.

We are deeply saddened and truly sorry that we will not be able to celebrate Canal Days with you this year. We know this decision is disappointing, and we share in that disappointment. But Cambridge City has always been a community built on strength, resilience, and neighbors helping neighbors.

Right now, our focus is on rebuilding the heart of our community. And when the time is right, we will gather, celebrate, and make new memories together once again.

There are really no words for how much the kindness of our community has meant to us today and the last few days. ❤️

As we work on pumping out the basement today, we've been blown away by the groups of people who came to town and stopped on the sidewalk just to ask, "What can we do to help?"

A family pulling a wagon down the sidewalk was passing out cold drinks—thank you again! Cambridge City Christian Church organized and is hosting donation services for residents and locals—thank you for providing us buckets and shovels. Thank you to Chick-fil-A for providing our lunch. Thank you to our neighboring businesses for calling, checking in, and stopping by as you navigate the same obstacles. Thank you to friends and family reaching out to see what we need.

Every one of these gestures, big or small, has meant so much.

As a small, mom-and-pop, family-owned business, we’re incredibly grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another when it matters most.
