Mattingly has been self employed for eight years, and operates a one-man, full service business. He has apprenticed under renowned piano tuner-technician Dean Brown, Sr. from Southern Illinois and the reputable piano re-builder Joe Jackson of Jackson Pianos in St. Pianos have been a part of Daniel's life from the very beginning. gan taking private piano lesson at age four. He grew up around music and is educated in many instruments. At age 20, he began working as a delivery technician at the local piano shop, Baldwin Piano and Organ Center in Herrin, Illinois with J.W. “Bill” Barras, Jr. At that time, he was enrolled in the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology. After advancing in piano work and apprenticeship, he became self employed and joined the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) in 2012. Daniel attends technical conventions every year to further his education in piano technology.
