Hi, I’m Alex Peña, owner of APWoodwrkStudio! I’m a self-taught craftsman balancing family, work, and my passion for woodwork, engraving, and 3D printing.

What started as a hobby became a growing LLC.

A few months ago, my father-in-law, Mark, handed me an old frame and this Detroit Lions metal logo cutout and simply said, "See what you can do with it."

Like many projects, life got busy. Between family, work, and everything else, it ended up sitting in the garage longer than I had planned. While cleaning and organizing the shop recently, I came across it and realized it was time to finally bring the idea to life.

Starting with the metal logo, I designed and built an entirely new frame, added custom engraved stadium artwork, a commemorative plaque, and finished everything with a cedar sealer that will continue to darken and develop character over time.

I have to say, this one exceeded my expectations. It turned out looking less like a simple wall decoration and more like something you'd find in a sports memorabilia gallery. Best of all, it's truly one of a kind.

Thank you, Mark, for your patience while I finally got this project across the finish line. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed building it.

Now, on to the next project. The catch-up game is getting stronger one project at a time.

I finally got around to finishing this cedar bench for the lake house, along with a custom engraved memorial plaque for Aunt Sandy.

The old bench up there had definitely seen its last days, and while working on this one I asked Grandma Lewis last year if it was okay to replace it. I remember Aunt Sandy always sitting in that area relaxing and hanging out, so I thought this would be a meaningful way to honor both her and that special spot by the lake.

I wanted to keep it simple, respectful, and something that would blend naturally into the lake house while still carrying meaning behind it. Seeing it all come together honestly meant a lot to me, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Hello everyone, hope you all had a great weekend! Finally taking a moment to sit down and make a post. Life with family, work, and everything in between has definitely kept me busy this year, but I’ve slowly been catching up on projects and getting back into the shop along with upgrading and fixing up my office, and of course the house stuff and projects

One of the first orders I wanted to finish was this Tavern 1836 sign. Last year a storm knocked the original sign down and completely broke it apart. I tried restoring it, and after months of work, Sadly it was just too far gone , so I decided to rebuild the entire thing from scratch.

This piece is double sided and took weeks of sanding, weeks of weather proofing as it required several coats to ensure every inch was covered for that long lasting protection , along with staining, painting, touch ups, hand cutting, and even drawing/painting some lettering by hand. Definitely one of the more time consuming projects I’ve worked on, in a long while! but I’m really happy with how it turned out and can’t wait to see it finally hung back up where it belongs. 🍻

After trials, testing, and making sure I could get a clean consistent print every time lol… I’m finally adding the Blob Monkey collection to the 3D printed roster.

These little guys turned out awesome honestly. They connect together like the classic Barrel of Monkeys toys, making them fun to pose, stack, hang, and collect. They’re great as desk companions, fidget toys, shelf decor, or just something fun for the kids.

I went with softer matte “nursery” colors because Gabi and Roli absolutely loved the look of them during testing, and I wanted something different from the usual bright rainbow prints you see everywhere else.

Current colors include:
• Sky Blue
• Lavender
• Mint Green
• Brick Red
• Yellow
• Glow colors coming too

Different sizes and accessory sets will be available including bananas, jungle branches, and linked monkey sets.

Just finished another order and this one is heading out today!

This little octopus desk companion came out awesome and is packed up ready for its new home. Seeing these go from the printer to someone’s desk never gets old.

The Blob Octopus has been doing amazing lately — picking up traction and selling consistently. I’m really proud of how that print turned out. Clean lines, smooth finish, and a high-end look that I’m aiming for with every piece.

With that said… say hello to the Fox Family 🦊

This one came out exactly how I pictured it. The detail, the articulation, the different color options — I’m really happy with the quality on these.

As I keep improving at this craft, the prints will only get cleaner, sharper, and more detailed. Every drop gets better.

Now I’m curious… what animals should I tackle next?

I’m thinking something seasonal — maybe Easter eggs and a bunny might be the next drop. 🐰🥚

And yes… the Blob Monkey is still in progress. I’m working out the kinks before that one goes live.

I don’t post every print I make, but this one I had to share.

The Magnetic Blob Octopus (design by Blob Labs) is now live in the shop 🐙

This style is honestly one of my favorites — right up there with the frogs.

Fully articulated.
Hidden magnetic tentacles.
Comes as a full set with the stand and crab.
Multiple color options (mixed tentacles available too).

I always test prints before releasing anything, and this one came out awesome.

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted on here — not because I disappeared, just because life’s been full. Between family, school, work, and custom orders, things have been moving behind the scenes.

Last year was a really good year for this shop. A lot of learning, a lot of late nights, and staying busy in the best way. Custom orders are still coming in, and the whiskey glasses and sets are only getting more upgrades and refinements.

I’ve also been putting serious time into developing the 3D printing side practicing, testing, dialing in settings, and fine-tuning production to make sure everything is where it needs to be before it goes out. I test everything because I don’t want mistakes slipping through or customers dealing with something I could have prevented.

It’s been a minute… but I’m back!

Life’s been crazy lately — between a new career path, school, and back-to-back projects, I haven’t had the time to post or update Etsy like I should’ve. Appreciate everyone who's been patient!

Just wrapped up this awesome custom sign for Bridge Street Smiles🦷 — super clean, bold colors, and a solid build that pops from a distance. Another fun one for the books!

Finally finished this 3D printing project Logan has been reminding me about! He wanted a Pikachu that could sit on his shoulder. It took a bit of trial and error (and a few painting mistakes I’ll pretend aren’t there), but it came out alright. Logan was super pumped and called it perfect—even with the flaws. The next one will be better, but for now, I’m just glad he’s happy Katie Peña
