After over 60 years of providing rockhounds, geologists, engineers, and the Butte community a place to visit, a place to talk about rocks and geology, a place to share field stories, and a place to purchase that perfect mineral gift, Koop's Gem Store has closed. The building has sold, most of our inventory has found new homes, and on October 8, 2021 we locked the shop door one last time. Thank you

to everyone for your support, your wonderful stories, and your love for our business. Koop's resided in the nationally famous mining town, Butte, Montana. Koop's was established in 1959 by rock enthusiast and miner Gunnard Kuoppala. After Gunnard's passing, Koops was managed by his son Alan Kuoppala whom opened the shop a couple days a week and provided coffee, donuts, and conversation to the weekly local rockhounds that visited.
