Thursday marked our final official Wellness Walk of the 2025-2026 season for the Burlington Woman’s Club, and what a fantastic way to wrap up the season! Aileen, Donna, Elaine, Gail, Teresa, and Betsy gathered at the Community Center at Twin Lakes for today's stroll. We enjoyed a lovely walk through the grounds, led by Elaine and Gail, who are residents of this beautiful community. Elaine even gave us a tour of her beautiful villa and Gail pointed out the building that houses her apartment. What a pleasure to spend time together while enjoying such peaceful surroundings! Along our way, we saw perfectly manicured grounds that were bursting with colorful blooms, a graceful swan, a goose, and several ducks. The Health and Wellness CSP appreciates and thanks everyone who participated in the wellness walks this past year. We look forward to walking together again following the summer break!

Today, Crystal O'Neal, past president of the GFWC-NC, installed the new officers of the Burlington Woman's Club at our spring luncheon. What a great turnout and delicious food! Crystal's installation was organized around the concept of the spice cabinet, and each officer received a different herb or spice to symbolize the work they will do over the next two years: Treasurer - Denane - ginger, which symbolizes power and prosperity and wards off poverty; Recording Secretary - Aileen - rosemary, which symbolizes fidelity, accuracy, and exactness; Julie - 2nd Vice President - parsley, which means festivity; Donna - 1st Vice President - thyme, an herb of activity and courage, strength and bravery; and Peg - President - cinnamon, which symbolizes prosperity, happiness, courage, strength, energy, and swift action. Many thanks to Crystal for the wonderful ceremony and to Denane, Lana, and Donna for the photos! And to Brenda for organizing the luncheon and Edwina for our lovely table favors! Congratulations to our new officers!

What a great turnout this morning for the joint activity sponsored by the Environment and Health and Wellness CSPs! Aileen, Bev, Denane, Donna, Doris, Elaine, Teresa, and Betsy arrived with their gloves, nabbers, and grabbers ready to clean our Adopt-A-Street assignment. The members worked both sides of Front Street from the intersection with Church Street all the way to Edith Street today and picked up a variety of trash. The most interesting item we picked up today was a TV remote. Front Street residents thanked us for what we were doing, and a very kind gentleman offered us water. We were hot and tired when we finished but felt so proud of the job we had done to "Keep Burlington Beautiful!
