Our second teacher being recognized this month is Heidi Torrance. Please read the wonderful nomination:
We are VERY pleased to nominate Mrs. Heidi Torrance. Heidi is a Reading Interventionist at Sunnyside Elementary. Not only does Heidi have a heart of gold and a soul that was put on this Earth to work with children, she is a very gifted teacher.
Heidi has training in the science of reading and has pushed herself to stay up to date with the latest and scientifically backed/research proven methods of how the brain learns to read. I am so thankful for Heidi pursuing the furthering education and training that she has because she has TRULY changed the trajectory of our children's lives with her knowledge of both the science of reading and dyslexia. She is truly deserving of this recognition because she sees the best in every child, and will stop at nothing for them to be successful and lifelong readers. Thank you Heidi for the gift you are to our family, your students, and this district!
Heidi will receive $150 from Valley Propane to help with classroom projects

The first teacher being honored this month is Mr. Brooks from West central. He will receive $150 for classroom projects. Thank you for making each student feel special. Here is his nomination.

We would like to nominate Dylan Brooks, 2nd grade teacher and afterschool tutor at West Central Elementary School in Stronghurst IL. Mr. Brooks is simply fabulous. He is a soft spoken person with clear expectations for his classroom. Every day you hear kids past and present yelling his name and telling him good morning or good bye. No matter if it is before or after school he has kids in his room laughing and learning. He is one of the first to arrive in the morning and last to leave at the end of the day. You can clearly see it through the kids that he has a talent and passion for teaching.
As a parent of a previous student, my daughter loved his class, makes sure that he still gets a birthday treat every year when her birthday rolls around and has to tell him goodbye every day.
