New arrivals! The front of the store is blooming, thanks to our neighbor ! We were enchanted by this 1927 "Wild Gardens of Old California". Published in Santa Barbara, the text combines an account of a Franciscan missionary who described wildflowers in his journal with the story of a Scottish botanist who brought Californian wildflowers to the gardens of Europe. Best of all is the final chapter, "Seeds of Hope for a Dim and Distant Future": a secret compartment filled with wildflower seeds, nearly a century old.

With illustrations by local artist and cowboy Edward Borein, and an introduction by the botanist and ornithologist Ralph Hoffmann.
