Page 2 Books is looking for applicants who are passionate book lovers and are interested in learning about bookselling. We strongly encourage those with previous bookstore or library experience to apply. This is not a seasonal position; we are looking for someone who will be a long-term addition to our team. We are hiring a part-time weekend bookseller who will be working 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM every Saturday and 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM every other Sunday, in addition to picking up occasional shifts to provide coverage for vacations and illness. You must be at least 18 years old to be considered for this position.
Being a bookseller encompasses a variety of tasks. This is primarily a customer service role where you will be greeting and assisting customers and answering the phone. This includes working the register as well as unpacking/shelving books (carrying boxes up to 30lbs), keeping the store clean, taking in used books, and merchandising. The work is detail-oriented and the job requires a careful eye when inputting, shelving, and organizing books. These tasks require our booksellers to be comfortable using technology. Self-motivation is necessary as you will not always have direct supervision, but there is always something to do. This position pays $18/hour. In addition, you will receive a 30% discount on new merchandise and are allowed to take home used books and used puzzles for free. Advanced readers copies of unreleased books and audiobooks are available for booksellers to read and review. You will join a vibrant community of readers and writers of all ages in Burien!
