The original Ava Craft Center was started by Helen Killion and four of her friends in 1962 and was located in Ava, IL. This is a 4th generation business that has recently lifted its roots and moved to a location in Burfordville, MO. We specialize in hand woven rugs, but also sell other artisan crafts and items produced by local tradesmen. Our new address is: 134 State Highway U, Burfordville, MO, 63739.

My good friend, Cynthia L Jones Chamberlain, from Oklahoma has supplied us with an absolutely lovely load of vintage doilies! They are very reasonably priced and are just waiting for a new home! This lovely couple decided to spend part of their 40th anniversary at Ava Craft Center 2.0 SEMO and we could not have been more thrilled! We’re open each week on Thursdays & Fridays 10-5 and on Saturdays 10-3. Stop in and take a look around our shop. We make hand loomed rugs on antique looms and have a whole building full of locally made artisan crafts! 🤗

Does anyone recognize this place? Lots of living happened in that old building! That’s where I learned to make my first rag rug and that’s where my daughter, Lorrie Yount, spent many, many days of her young life! Sadly, that building was in disrepair and is no longer standing on the main street of Ava, Illinois. It now only exists in my memories. We can now be found at Ava Craft Center 2.0 SEMO. Here’s something pretty to look at on this beautiful Sunday morning! These pictures were taken at Ava Craft Center 2.0 SEMO this week. I was outside admiring our Rose of Sharon tree (bush ?) and had just snapped the first image when I immediately heard a loud buzzing noise and was visited by a bumblebee. I took the second photo and one more for good measure. When I looked back at the last shot, I realized I had captured the bee’s wings in flight! I thought that was pretty cool so I wanted to share it with all of you! 🤗

P.S. Can you believe my husband wants to cut down that “annoying sprout!” Those are his words, not mine. Don’t worry—that won’t happen on my watch! 🫶
