One of the most asked questions I get is are you going to open more locations and could you open one closer to me?
We had guests on the podcast yesterday and they both asked the question and the answer as it's always been is a resounding no and here are the reasons why it's the case for Burbank.
1: The best shops in the industry are for the most part single location stores and that's because it's for the most part impossible to replicate or improve on a business that took decades to build that makes their location special.
2: The splitting of inventory. It's tough of enough to continually add cards to the showroom floor and keep the showcases and singles boxes filled in one location daily and singles are the driver that deliver customers from great distance regularly.
3: Splitting your staff /ownership, the talent pool for truly great staff with institutional knowledge is shadow and their's intense competition for the best of the best beyond just hobby shops, Burbank has been blessed to hire those folks.
4:Allocation, Fanatics is cutting back on allocation to shops and they've made it clear that opening a second or third store doesn't mean your total allocation improves and if you're success depends on primary market products, you'll have a tough time scaling any extra locations unless you do a brisk singles business.
5: Social media, you'll have to create marketing for that second store and it's rare to see multiple locations that get many followers beyond the original shop unless your name is Tom Brady.
I'm not saying that it's impossible but I am saying that it's tough to build multiple storefronts with the uncertainty of 2026, especially with allocation cuts, the dips in pricing we're seeing with new product releases and the unknown ripple effects of PSA 's lower tier shutdown.
Burbank will be quadrupling down on The Burbank Experience physical retail, we'll have plenty more upgrades and we'll continue to scale The offerings that set us apart, Collector's Court, The Showroom Exclusive Vertical Showcases, Burbankcards.com, our app, media, liquidity, Fanatics Collect, gaming, product and creating a collecting atmosphere second to none.
