Hello! Please let me introduce myself and this amazing program!

My name is Harleigh Lewis. I recently graduated from Brunswick R-II on May 1st, and in the Fall of 2022, I will be attending the University of Missouri to major in Agriculture Education - Teacher Certification. From there I would like to return back to a rural community to pursue my career as a teacher, educating individuals about the greatest industry in the world!

I was introduced to Agriculture Education On The Move (AEOTM) about four months ago, and I quickly began to research more about the program. AEOTM is an organization that provides ag-based lesson that are specifically for 3rd graders. Once I fully understood AEOTM, I decided to meet with the Brunswick elementary principal, Heather Sims, to discuss possibly offering these lesson at Brunswick’s Summer School. Since this program is strictly for 3rd graders, we talked about how I could modify each lesson depending on the age group is students. After I was fully approved through the school, I had to message the head lead of AEOTM to receive permission to teach.

Roughly one month ago I received an email saying that I am now a AEOTM volunteer educator. With that same email, I also received access to all of the lessons and fun activities that are in store. 🥳

Then, boxes upon boxes started showing up. Something great about this organization is that after every single lesson there is a STEM activity for all of the students. AND, THEY PROVIDE EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR THEM.

I am so thrilled to announce that I will be teaching AEOTM lessons to 30 elementary students at Brunswick. I will be gaining experience in the teaching field, and learning more about agriculture. I will be posting updates on lessons and picture of the students. Thanks to Brunswick R-II for allowing me to have this opportunity! I can’t wait for May 23rd!
