Meet the Heritage Clamshell MAX—our most robust clamshell enclosure yet!

Built on the trusted Heritage Clamshell Box design, the MAX incorporates concealed layers of B-flute corrugated board within the walls and floors of both the lid and base. This reinforced internal structure dramatically increases compression resistance and rigidity, providing superior protection for heavier, oversized, or high-value materials.

Designed as a practical alternative to a traditional Solander case, the Heritage Clamshell MAX prioritizes archival performance above all else. The result is a durable, professional enclosure built to safeguard books, prints, documents, portfolios, and artifacts from environmental stress, impact, and handling wear.

Serious protection for the collections that need it most.

Our entire team was absolutely thrilled to spot TALAS in 's Year-End Mailbag Roundup!

As longtime fans of , we were inspired earlier last year by Adam’s visit to the museum conservation lab at the Harpers Ferry Center in West Virginia. That visit sparked a small gift package from us, curated with tools we know are loved by conservators, makers, and yes… arms and armor enthusiasts too (we were also inspired by Adam's visit to the Arms and Armor conservation labs at the ⚔️🛡️)

Seeing it arrive safely and then appear on the channel truly made our day. From the ever-coveted Dahlia Sprayer to Renaissance Wax—not to mention a bone folder, teflon folder, and microspatula—it was a joy to share a few essentials from the material-culture preservation toolkit.

Huge thanks to Adam and the entire Tested team for the mention and for continuing to celebrate the tools, processes, and curiosity that keep making alive.

Custom protection for treasured collections 🗿

We recently worked on a project with to design archival boxes tailored to house a series of busts. Using our T16 box design—with reinforced wall construction for added strength and rigidity—we created oversized housings built to last. Inside, we cut Tycore inserts for extra stability, ensuring these unique objects are supported and secure. The team at Northwestern then put their heads together to create supports for the busts using ethafoam planks covered in Tyvek.

Because every headstrong collection deserves housing as strong as the history it holds.

🇰🇷 On our recent trip to Seoul, we had the chance to dive deeper into the world of Hanji—Korea’s traditional handmade paper. At the Hanji House (.house) and the Seoul Museum of Craft Art (), we explored its rich history
and marveled at the artistry behind this incredible material.

What struck us most was how Hanji isn’t just preserved in museums or displayed in studios—it’s woven into daily life. From glowing lamps and translucent windows to decorative dividers throughout the city, Hanji continues to shape the atmosphere of Korean spaces with its warmth and beauty.

This timeless paper has been treasured for over a thousand years, and it still inspires makers, conservators, and designers around the world today. Want to bring Hanji into your own work? Explore our curated selection at TALAS—link in bio.
