Today is about good food, family, friends, and slowing down to enjoy all the things that make an Italian summer so special.

We’re lucky enough to be celebrating Ferragosto here in Puglia, surrounded by olive trees, plenty of food, and some of our favorite people. ❤️

Gli scogli. 🌊🇮🇹

One of the things I’ve always loved about the Puglian coastline are the scogli, the rocks that line so much of the shore.

As a child, I spent years thinking these rocks had something to do with volcanic activity. 😂 They don’t.

Much of this coastline is made of limestone and other carbonate rock formed from ancient marine sediments, then shaped over time by the sea, weathering and erosion.

Millions of years later, the Adriatic is still shaping them. 🌊❤️🇮🇹

One of the highlights of my day at the Summer Fancy Food Show was finally meeting

If you’ve ever wandered through the streets of Bari Vecchia, chances are you’ve seen Nunzia handcrafting orecchiette the traditional way. Watching her work has become an iconic part of the city’s culture, and as someone whose family is from nearby Mola di Bari, it was such a special moment to finally meet her in person.

I can’t wait to see her again when I’m back in Bari.

Happy National Olive Day! 🫒🇮🇹

One of our favorite simple snacks is a bowl of Castelvetrano olives paired with taralli.

We tossed these olives with a little lemon extra virgin olive oil, and they were absolutely delicious.

It’s a simple reminder that some of the best Italian flavors don’t need much at all.
