Dedication to craft.

Inspired by Amnesia roses and their pale, antiqued blooms, the scent unfolds slowly - bright citrus softening into moss-green and lavender petals, pressed and aged like pages in a book.

Each candle is poured into dusty pink porcelain vessels, mixed and cast by hand at our former Clinton Hill studio, finished with 22k gold-lustered rim and paired with a matching lid.

Scent, designed as space.

Inside the rotunda for the Monet and Venice exhibit, fragrance becomes the first experience, unfolding in motion, not on skin. Three discreet atomizers release a timed, spatial composition that rises, fades, and overlaps as visitors move through the room.

Diffused using a non-heated, museum-safe system, the scent remains subtle, anchored, and pure, never lingering, never overwhelming.

An invisible layer calibrated for presence, not saturation. Designed to support the art, not compete with it.

Experience Venice after dark. Monet and Venice is open late for its final weekend, until 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Why was memory as important to Monet as observation?

lisasmall shares how Monet painted not only from what he saw, but from what stayed with him—light remembered, air recalled, scent carried forward.

One week remains to experience Monet & Venice , closing Sunday 2/1.

What does it mean to experience Venice the way Monet did?

The conversation continues as .lisa reflects on perception and atmosphere—on designing a space that transports visitors into Monet’s point of view, where image, sound and scent work together as a sensory threshold.

How do you curate something people feel, not just see?

Our founder, Frederick Bouchardy, speaks with .lisa , Senior Curator of European Art at , about Monet & Venice and how atmosphere becomes a curatorial tool, shaping feeling as much as form.

2025 sharpened our perspective. Scent isn’t an accessory — it’s identity.

Across art, film, retail and experience, we followed that belief into new contexts. Grateful for the collaborators and partners who trusted us along the way.

“Being responsible for the instinctive, emotional, invisible part is high stakes… making it come to life in the space was genuinely challenging.”
— Frederick Bouchardy, Joya

For Monet and Venice at , our founder spent time inside the installation as it unfolded—observing how light, air flow, scale and movement shaped perception.

Behind the projections and music, the scent arc had to do something quieter:
hold the emotional tone of the exhibition without overpowering it.

Three fragrances—Acqua Alta, L’Enveloppe, Nymphaea—guide visitors through tide, air and stillness.

It’s no longer theory.
It’s lived air.

Paint the Air — Monet & Venice

For Monet and Venice at , our founder Frederick Bouchardy worked closely with curator .lisa to carry forward Monet’s desire to “paint the air.”

Inside the museum, Bouchardy refined the fragrances in real time—shaped by light, space and movement as the installation unfolded. First experienced as a timed scent arc in the exhibition, they now live on as perfumed paper postcards.

Three expressions:
Acqua Alta — rising tide, green, salty, alive
L’Enveloppe — the atmosphere between artist and subject
Nymphaea — stillness and dissolution, where water becomes light

Hang, share or mail—three moments from the exhibition, carried home.

Our collaboration with artist and distills joy and coziness into light and form, a layered study in hope and comfort. Two candles that move like color, grounded in nostalgic notes of pine, sandalwood, clove bud oil and jasmine.

An exploration of memory and belonging, crafted to illuminate the spaces we gather in.

At 59th Street, the collection came to life through a scent-powered installation where guests created Yinka-inspired stamped artworks with scented inks on plantable paper—little keepsakes of connection and play.
