There’s something so special about running a shop or two. Sure, we get to curate an amazing assorment of goods, but the relationships we make along the way are a major highlight of the gig.
Take for instance our friend, Jane Goodrich. We were longtime fans of Saturn Press before the idea of a shop even crossed our mind. The business that Jane and Jim founded in the ‘80s and ran on Swan’s Island up until just a few years ago is part of what makes Maine “Maine.” So, getting to know Jane as part of carrying the cards has been like the gift that keeps on giving!
Last week, during Jane’s author event for her latest book, THE SERAPH, we had a chance to catch up. While the new owners carry on the craft and keep us well-stocked with a vast selection of inventory (thank you James and Deirdre!), we love hearing Jane’s stories about the business she co-founded and ran for many years.
If you live in or have spent time in Maine, chances are that you have more than likely picked up a Saturn Press card. Gorgeous paper, beautiful artwork, rich colors….and the textures! Every Saturn Press card is a little bit of joy in your hands! Everyone has a favorite or two.
Not only are Saturn Press cards one of our most popular items, but greeting cards themselves are our most in-demand purchase! Did you know that we sell about 10,000 cards from an array of sources each year? It’s true! We did the math!
