I started out painting baits for my own personal use after my fishing addiction started killing my pocketbook. These lures can get crazy expensive, and I lost one too many as a weekend warrior on the water to justify buying more and more of them. On one particular fishing trip I wasn't having
much luck with most of my fishing tackle, and was at my wits end. I reached into one of my tackle boxes and tied on a Strike King crank bait that I had no previous confidence that it would, or could catch fish. Fish after fish, I was putting solid bass into the live well, and enjoying my time on the water. After one particular long cast out near some submerged boulders I hooked up with what felt like a monster. A short fight ensued, and I began picking up line inching this hog near the boat. I bent down trying to lip the fish with my hand when he turned suddenly causing his teeth to rub against my line. This action caused my line to break, and I watched him swim off with my lure. The rest of the day I tried numerous combinations and color schemes trying to mimic the success I had earlier in the day, but with no such luck. Angry that I lost what I assume to be a solid fish, and a great lure, I needed more of these fish catching crank baits. Come to find out, Strike King discontinued the color scheme, and I was unable to find me another one of those lures. Sound familiar? It is a horrible feeling, trust me I know. I vowed this wouldn't happen to me again, and I don't want it to happen to anyone else either. Thus, the creation of my company, North Shore Baits. At North Shore Baits, I can mimic most color schemes to near exact replicas of the lures us fisherman are paying upwards of $15-25.00 for. Given a picture of the lure I can paint up replica baits, or I can also take any idea or color scheme one could dream up and make it a reality.
