To the teenagers reading this: If you've been drinking, don't drive. If your friend has been drinking, don't let them drive. Call someone. Call a parent. Call an Uber. Sleep on a couch. Do anything except get behind the wheel.
And remember—it's not only your own life at risk. You could lose your best friend. Someone else's child. Someone who is loved beyond measure.
Parents, check on your kids. Know where they are. Have the conversations, even when they're uncomfortable. Make sure they know they can call you anytime, no questions asked, if they need a safe ride home.
Let's honor James's memory by speaking up, making safer choices, and protecting the young lives that still have so much ahead of them.
