The Lark occupies a unique place in our lineup.

Built to the same hand carved, fully hollow standard as our GH1 and GH2 models, the Lark takes that level of craftsmanship and pairs it with one of the most familiar guitar shapes ever created.

The result is a guitar that can comfortably move between worlds. There’s enough snap, articulation, and immediacy for players coming from traditional T-style and solid body guitars, while the fully hollow carved archtop construction brings the depth, bloom, responsiveness, and harmonic complexity that jazz, blues, and improvisational players tend to fall in love with.

Like the GH1 and GH2, the Lark features a hand carved flame maple top, mahogany back and sides, ebony fingerboard, premium electronics and hardware, and a fully hollow design with no center block.

For players who have always been curious about carved archtops but wanted something that feels instantly familiar in their hands, the Lark may be the most approachable guitar we build.

Big shoutout and thank you to our friend Mark Masson for getting his Maxey Archtops GH1 into the hands of Daniel Donato last night at the Maybe It Was The Roses Music Festival in Ventura, CA!

Wow! Amazing.

It is a joy to see these instruments out in the wild, being played by so many wonderful musicians, and to catch a glimpse of the creative moments each guitar gets to be a part of. So many beautiful notes get played on each instrument, and I’d like to think those notes all add up, are meaningful, and become part of our music scene and our daily lives.

Grateful.

The next GH4 batch is officially underway!!!

These photos came in from our builders this week as the next production run moves through the shop. Every GH4 begins with design, thoughtful construction, and the same attention to detail that has made this model one of our most popular guitars.

Preorders are now open, with deliveries expected to begin this summer. The batch is already in production, and financing and deposit options are available directly through checkout.

We’re looking forward to getting these into the hands of the next group of players.

Hand carved top, back with bent sides. Familiar shape and a combination of tones ranging from our GH series into some extra bite. Nitro gloss top and matte back, sides and neck. Flame maple top is paired with Mahogany back, sides and neck. 24 fret, 25.5” scale. SD59s in series, split and parallel. Badass small body archtop!
