"Behold the heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself, in order to testify its love; and in return, I receive from the greater part only ingratitude, by their irreverence and sacrilege, and by the coldness and contempt they have for me in this sacrament of love."

This month, the month of June, is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the 17th century, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was granted several visions of Our Lord, during which He revealed His Burning Love for all mankind.

The twelve promises for those who have a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus are as follows:

1. "I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.
2. I will establish peace in their homes.
3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.
5. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.
6. Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
7. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.
8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
9. I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored.
10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart.
12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment."

“Pray, pray much, and sacrifice for sinners, for many souls go to hell because there is no one to sacrifice and pray for them.” (Fourth Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima – August 19, 1917)

Today, May 13th, is the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima, marking the date of the first of six apparitions to the children Lucia Santos, Francisco Marto, and his sister Jacinta. These apparitions happened on the 13th of every month, concluding with October 13th and the famous Miracle of the Sun (excluding the fourth apparition, which happened on the 19th of August).

There are two Fatima Chaplets. The “short” Fatima chaplet is composed of powerful prayers given to the children by the Blessed Mother and the Angel of Peace in 1917. The “long” Fatima chaplet is prayed on a standard rosary.

DID YOU KNOW
Czech glass beads are among the finest in the world? These Czech glass beads (also known as Bohemian glass beads) are LEAD FREE and fashioned from sand, chalk and certain salts to create a crystal-clear glass which is used to make beads, glassware, jewelry, chandeliers, and so much more! The color, achieved by adding minerals, will not bleed onto any surface, making them ideal for everyday use items, such as chaplets and rosaries. They are shaped by “pressing” and are fire-polished to achieve maximum shine and hardness.

We use a variety of Czech glass beads in our chaplets and rosaries, ranging from cobalt blues to siam reds. They are pressed in a variety of shapes such as roses, crosses, twists, and many more!

“There is a legend to the effect that when, to escape the wrath of Herod, Saint Joseph and Blessed Virgin were fleeing into Egypt with the Divine Child, they stopped at a desert inn. The Blessed Mother asked the lady of the inn for water in which to bathe the Babe. The lady then asked if she might ot bathe her own child, who was suffering from leprosy, in the same waters in which the Divine Child had been immersed. Immediately upon touching those waters baptized with the Divine Presence, the child became whole. Her child advanced in age and grew to be a thief. He is Dismas, now hanging on the Cross at the right hand of Christ!” - Ven. Archbishop Fulton J Sheen, “The Seven Last Words” 1933

Continuing our series on the Devotion of the month, March is dedicated to St. Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus and the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He is revered for his quiet strength, his diligence in his work, and his primary role as the protector of the Holy Family. Although silent in the Bible, that silence is LOUD. That obedience to God is loud. That faith is loud, absolute, unwavering. Without a single word, he shows us how to live, love and be faithful to God. He is the symbol of faith, hard work and righteous living.

The St. Joseph, Man of Silence chaplet walks through the “silences” of St. Joseph, these being times he was present and acted in accord with his virtues to bring about God’s Holy Will. The chaplet contains meditations and prayers on each of the seven events. Through these reflections, one catches a glimpse of his perspective as he navigates the path laid before him and bears the weight of his responsibilities.

The seven “silences” are: 1) the marriage of St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary, 2) the journey to Bethlehem and the birth of the Savior, 3) the circumcision, 4) the presentation at the Temple, 5) the flight into Egypt, 6) the finding of Jesus in the Temple, and 7) Jesus submits to Joseph’s earthly authority as father.

This chaplet is prayed for a personal intention through St. Joseph, a powerful intercessor. After all, if Jesus obeyed St. Joseph on earth, why wouldn’t He listen to him now?

From now until March 14th, save 5% on all St. Joseph chaplets and rosaries!

In this season of Lent, how do we personally recognize and honor Christ’s Passion? Well, there are many ways to mark Our Lord’s grievous experience. The first, is by praying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary daily. Maybe pray a Scriptural Rosary that will take you deeper into the meditations. Then, of course, there are the Stations of the Cross, which is usually prayed every Friday at most Churches. There are some wonderful meditations to be found online and those, combined with beautiful artwork, would be fitting for home devotion if you can’t make it to Church. A quick internet search will give you some wonderful options. There’s also a chaplet for the Station of the Cross that can be prayed anytime, anywhere. Many people pray it routinely every Friday, even outside of Lent.

Then, there are some lesser-known *approved* devotions that reveal other aspects of the Passion that deserve acknowledgement. A very powerful one is the Chaplet of the 15 Secret Tortures, approved and recommended by Pope Clement II (pont. 1730-1740). These detail the horrific experiences of Our Lord overnight before the Crucifixion as revealed to Sister Mary Magdalen of the Franciscan Santa Clara Order, at her behest.

Another is the Chaplet of St. Mary Magdalene. This moving chaplet is prayed for repentance, seeking forgiveness for one’s sins, and for atonement for a sinful life. The St. Dismas Chaplet is another good one for seeking forgiveness and reconciliation.

Then there’s the Chaplet of the Last Seven Words of Christ on the Cross. This consists of meditations on the last sayings of Christ as He hung in agony on the Cross. The prayers examine each saying of Christ and plead for a fruit from each utterance.

However, you choose to honor Christ’s Passion, doing so can help you to recognize the true gift He willingly gave for our salvation.
