Message to Residents of Bridgeport, CT.

Parking Meter fees will be increasing once City Council adopts the latest ordinance change which will change the rate from $1.00/hr to $1.50/hr.

$0.50 = 20 Minutes
$1.00 = 40 Minutes
$1.50 = 60 Minutes

That's a fair compromise considering the last tampering with parking tried to change meter parking fines from $20 to $30 and the Downtown Bridgeport Merchants Association was able to pump the brakes on that change.

But just shooting this info out there to anyone that wants to know. The $0.50 increase per hour will yield an extra $210K - $230K per year based on current usage and hours purchased.

I DO NOT work for the City of Bridgeport. That is the #1 question I am always asked when stakeholders come to me for help on matters in Bridgeport. I have ZERO Authority. I Do have MAXIMUM influence.

My strong suggestion to the City Council is that we earmark 100% of the "Newly" established revenue to launch an Office of Tourism which is desperately needed in the state's largest city and will benefit the entire business community, downtown, and all our attractions city wide using parking meter revenues.
