VERY COLD BY MIDWEEK; HARD FREEZE WITH WIND CHILL VALUES IN 10s LOCALLY... This map highlights the projected wind chill values at 6AM Wednesday morning across the Deep South. Wind chill values show how the air will feel, combining the actual air temperature with the projected wind speeds for a given location. North Alabama may have wind chill values BELOW zero. Locally in south Alabama and northwest Florida, I am expecting air temperatures in the upper-10s and low-20s Wednesday morning with wind chill values potentially as low as 9-10 degrees! This will be the coldest air our area has experienced since Christmas Day of 2022 when temperatures were in this same range.
UPDATE ON THE LOW-END CHANCE OF MIXED PRECIP MONDAY LATE OR TUESDAY MORNING... Rain showers will be possible on Monday evening ahead of the very cold air moving into south Alabama and northwest Florida on Monday night. The low-end chance of seeing sleet and a few snow flurries continues to be just that, a low-end chance, particularly across west Alabama in the 9PM Monday to 3AM Tuesday time frame. I do not expect any significant accumulation of snow, ice, or sleet. Models have wavered on the idea of even having any wintry precipitation involved and there is still a high chance we may just have rain showers on Monday before drier, much colder conditions Monday night into Tuesday. No real chance of any picturesque snow with this weather system on Monday into early Tuesday.
PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY AND SUNDAY... High temperatures will be in the 50s today and near 60 on Sunday with partly cloudy skies each day. Overnight lows will be around 30 degrees by daybreak on Sunday morning.
