April 25. The river certainly underwent rearrangement with heavy flows recently. The water is dropping rapidly, flood gates are closed but may be another couple weeks before we are really able to see all the changes. I personally have not had much time to fish but have been able to put in a couple hours on 2 separate occasions, since the changes. Yes , I certainly felt the difference, as my weight drifted over the bottom. Using an ultra sensitive rod, is like an xray machine but instead of by picture, by feel. Definitely felt new boulders and hangups. Right now they are manageable because they do not have wads of line snagged up on them but******* I still would like to remain optimistic about it. While perhaps there may be new snags in our favorite runs, maybe it will open other runs, that were once problematic? This is definitely not the first time the river has changed near the dam. If you have been fishing here for a long time, then perhaps you remember how different it was before the construction of the lamprey trap and berm of boulders, deposited in the center run? Either way, over the next year, im sure i will hear so many folks, who have not fished it yet, constantly measure the changes via polite conversation, while fishing. However, folks will still come and flock to this world class fishery that Tippy Dam has helped support ;) Tight lines
